Gloria Mwez is a choreographer known for combining several dance genres into cohesive pieces. Her work twists material and ephemeral elements through counter-intuitive shapes, creating stories that are at once eerie and exciting. She has been a Beverly Arts Center teaching artist, Fear Experiment dance and stepping coach, and a company member with Matter Dance Company, The Modern Marvels Dance Company, Movement Revolution Dance Crew, Perceptual Motion Inc., and Simantikos Dance Chicago. Her experience with a variety of different performance groups coupled with a love for Chicago led Gloria to create Chicago Untitled Project in 2014. The project facilitates workshops, events, and performances for movement artists and seeks to bolster Chicago’s creative community. The aim is help artists quit their day jobs while converting “non-artists” into dance-lovers. In 2016, Gloria inched closer to that goal when she was voted runner up in the Chicago Reader Poll for best choreographer.
